What is Microsoft Hyper-V Hosting?
Microsoft's Hyper-V is a thin software layer that sites between the physical servers hardware (Host Server) and the Operating System allowing multiple Operating Systems to run as Virtual Machines on a single Host Server at the same time.
Windows Hyper-V Hosting on a Virtual Dedicated Server offers the capabilities of a dedicated server with the flexibility of being able to quickly add more Memory, Storage Space and vCPU’s to match increasing demands.
Hyper-V Virtual Dedicated Server (VDS) vs. Virtual Private Servers (VPS)
Hyper-V Virtual Machines are superior to Virtual Private Servers (VPS) as each Virtual Machine is isolated from other Virtual Machines with each having its own Dedicated Virtual Hard-Drive, Virtual CPU’s, Guaranteed Processing Power, and Guaranteed Memory allowing you to install your own Operating System and applications in the same way you would with a dedicated server. As a result you do not need to worry about having your hosted services overrun by another service on the same Host.
Hyper-V Virtual Dedicated Server (VDS) vs. Dedicated Server Hosting
Hyper-V Virtual Machines offer many advantages over traditional Dedicated Server Hosting, with improved availability and easier to scale as extra vCPU’s, Memory, and Storage Space can be added without purchasing additional hardware.
One of the biggest rewards over Dedicated Servers is the ability to use Highly Available Nodes in Failover Clusters. Hyper-V Virtual Servers are able to failover to redundant hardware in the event of hardware failure, maintenance or upgrades.
Hyper-V Virtual Machines can easily be 'Live Migrated' between Clustered Nodes if there is a hardware fault or require more resources, such as extra CPU or memory, without interruption to services.
Benefits of Hyper-V Hosting
Own Private Isolated Operating System
Each Virtual Machine is isolated from other Virtual Machines on the same Host Server
Guaranteed Processor, Memory, and Storage resources
Full Administrative Root Level Access via Remote Desktop (RDP)
Failover Clustering with High Availability Hosting of Servers allowing automatic failover to Passive Nodes (redundant servers)
Live Migration of Hyper-V Servers between Clustered Nodes without interruption to services
Powerful solution for Disaster Recovery, Server Consolidation, and application or Website hosting needs
Install your Software and Applications
More secure than Shared Web Hosting
Web Wiz Dynamic Data Centre
Our Dynamic Data Centre with High Availability Hosting of Virtual Dedicated Servers in Failover Clusters is built with performance and reliability in mind, while at the same time making sure that we reduce the amount of power consumed by our servers.
In case of hardware failure our Highly Available Hyper-V Virtual Dedicated Servers are able to failover to Passive Clustered Nodes thanks to the Web Wiz purpose built Dynamic Data Centre which uses iSSCI SAN Storage with redundant hot swappble RAID 10 Disk Arrays which is shared between Clustered Nodes using Clustered Shared Volumes.
Hyper-V Virtual Dedicated Servers can be moved between Clustered Nodes using Live Migration which allows Virtual Dedicated Servers to be moved without any interruption to services.
To produce a 'Green Hosting' solution for Virtual Dedicated Servers, Web Wiz use Green Energy Efficernt Servers for our Cluster Nodes. This is more expensive but the power savings over our traditional servers is over 60%!
Our Cluster Nodes are then connected, via 2 Gbps Network connections using Link Aggregation with failover to large iSSCI SAN Servers where the Virtual Hard-Drives for each Virtual Machine are stored on Clustered Shared Volumes.
